Yoshiyuki Shimizu is a lauded potter based in the mountain-top town of Dosenbo outside of Kyoto. Shimizu san is a tireless explorer - traveling throughout Japan to source and dig his own clays. He is meticulous in both his experimentation with and application of glazes - all created at his studio. Wood firing multiple times a year, he crafts works with stunning variety with each and every one capturing the essence of the natural world. Shimizu san is not only a potter, but his interests and expertise also lie in flower arranging, calligraphy and tea roasting. We are honored to call him a friend and mentor in addition to a creative partner.
